Featured Title: 'How a Bicycle is Made'
During the 1940s, the British Council commissioned over 125 short documentary films designed to promote an understanding of Britain and Britishness. They were created with an overseas audience in mind, and were intended to act as cultural propaganda, counteracting both negative Nazi propaganda, as well as the popular perception of Britain as a country stuck in the past.

TIME/IMAGE has been working to digitise, research, and catalogue this collection since 2010, and the project is now live on the British Council Film website. This includes individual catalogue entires for each film complete with credits, trivia, original production materials, and the films themselves.

The Wikispace entries on this site are maintained to host new or extended research and user contributions.
